As it often goes in the wedding industry, most of the attention and conversation is geared towards the bride. It’s “her day” after all…right? Not so fast. The other half of the happy union (or in some cases, both halves) is not a “she”, but a “he”. And, deservedly, “he” should get some attention too. Matching those cooler temperatures and falling leaves is our review of the Fall Color trends with him in mind.
#1. Without a doubt this Fall’s most trendy combination is Navy & Marsala. Why? We think it’s because of its versatility. This palette is both classic and modern. It fits the styles of both the Boho B&G reinventing the wedding “rules” and the the classic couple upholding traditions. And, the rich tones lend themselves easily to both an afternoon affair or a more formal evening wedding celebration. Classically styled, the navy suit and marsala tie holds to tradition while the reverse (that’s right..think cranberry velvet) makes a bold statement for unconventional style.
#2. With grey as the “new neutral” in decor and design, it’s no surprise we are seeing it readily used in weddings too. The grey and plum make for a cooler color palette and a spectacular contrast to creamy flower combinations. The darker colors fit the look and feel of a moody, romantic, more formal dinner affair. A grey suit for him is a welcome break from traditional black while still feeling modern and sophisticated.
#3. Our favorite Fall palette leans more towards the warmer tones of wheat fields and fall foliage with Orange and Beige. (As a Univ of Texas alum…the burnt orange couldn’t be more perfect. I know I’m biased.) It’s ideal for an afternoon wedding in a venue that features natural elements. (Think: garden, atrium, barn) On a perfect Fall afternoon, the beauty of nature can’t help but add to the decor without adding to the decor budget. (#winning) No need to save the light colored suit for another season when it lends itself so nicely to Fall.
The coolest trend in groom’s gear is the ability to rent a much wider variety of tux and suit options for the Groom and his Crew. (Think something like “Rent the Runway” for guys.) Gone are the days of a typical suit/tux selection and everyone trying to coordinate the sizing and pickup/drop off with the local tux shop. (I don’t know about your wedding party, but mine is spread out all over the country.) New companies like Los Angeles based, The Black Tux, provide: options, convenience, wedding party tracking, and free standard shipping (both ways). Finally, a wedding “win” for the fellows.
