June 10, 2016 | 128 South - Bakery 105 Events An organization like ours – with two venues, full-service catering operation, and a bridal suite – requires a collection of very special and talented people working together to make each event as seamless as possible. (Can you say teamwork?) As such, we thought an introduction to the tremendous 128 South/Bakery 105 team was in order. In this, part one of our five part series, we would like to introduce you to our Sales Manager, Meredith Swicegood. As Sales Manager, Meredith, is often the first step in the booking process. She responds to inquiries, answers questions, leads site tours, negotiates contract details, and participates in community and networking events. Get to know Meredith… A little bit about my background: I graduated from UNCW in 1998 and throughout my years in college worked in the service industry. I then went on to work as a Banquet Manager for Shell Island Resort and after a year of setting up, breaking down, and working all the events I transitioned into the Catering Sales Manager position. Over the next 6 years I was responsible for all of the Weddings, Reunions, Association & Corporate events, and room sales for the resort. Throughout this time I was able to get a clear understanding of what it takes (both front & back of the house) to operate events at a standard that puts you above & beyond your competitors. I accepted the job as Sales Manager at 128 South events 11 months ago and could not be happier representing such a high quality company. My favorite thing about my job is… The people I work with and when you truly believe in the product you sell then it really makes going to work easy! What sets 128 South/Bakery 105 apart from other venues? Exceptional customer service and a high quality product. We are there for our clients throughout the entire planning process and make it as seamless as possible. The one piece of advice I would give a client when booking a special event is…Be sure you do your research to ensure you are receiving the product and service you are paying for. How far in advance should a client book a date for an event? For bridal vs. corporate? Brides typically book a year in advance and Corporate could be up to a couple weeks if the space is available. What do you think attracts so many brides to Wilmington? We are fortunate enough to live in such a special little town with beautiful beaches and the historic downtown area. When hosting such a special event, Wilmington is a town that never disappoints!
