In this week’s post, we are taking a serious look at the “maintenance and recovery” required to sustain a weekend full of destination wedding festivities. After all, the painful reality (yes…the pun was intentional) is that heavy consumption of adult beverages calls for solutions that really work.
On a recent first-hand venture into the destination wedding experience (a very good friend selected the Dominican Republic as her destination of choice), one thing became abundantly clear…consumption of adult beverages is constant and ample.
For the four days of festivities, my girlfriend had thoughtfully equipped each of our “Welcome” Bag” with a “Hangover Kit”. Included in the kit was a choice of hangover pills and a variety of individually packaged pain relievers…oh, and a bottle of h2o. The choice of hangover pills included for our use were H2V Hangover Vitamins and Dr. Awesome Hangover Formula. (Certainly there are similar products on the market…but we can only vouch for these two…because we know firsthand…they do work.) The perfect “Hangover Kit” bag is available on etsy. And, the indivually packaged pain relievers are available at Sams or Costco. All together they were a simple, but much appreciated addition to the “Welcome Bag”.
First thing to note, these items are not exclusive for use with destination weddings. Guests of an especially festive rehearsal dinner would appreciate the recovery-enhancing qualities of these hangover remedies. Of course, sans Welcome Bag, the hangover kit alone can make for a fun favor for reception guests too.
Second thing to note, the hangover pills will not help with the post-destination hangover “blues” often presenting symptoms of mild depression, low productivity, reminiscent story-telling, and in some extreme cases the sale of all worldly possessions for a new start in the destination of choice. (Personally, the recovery from our Domincan excursion has been the toughest pill to swallow…again, pun intentional.)
